Educational requirements ( शैक्षिक आवश्यकता ) : M.V.Sc. from a reputed University in India or abroad. Demonstrated leadership skills. Knowledge of wildlife health and disease prevention, with specialization in rhinoceros health.
Experience requirements ( अनुभव ) : The person should also be experienced to set up a storage and basic test facility within the WWF India field office and also train a team of assistance.
Desired skills ( वांछित कौशल ) : Good writing and communication, written and oral; in both English and Assamese. The candidate must be able to interact and communicate effectively with officials of the Forest Department and other line agencies of the government, and members of the civil society. High level of interpersonal skills required, especially relationship management and consensus building skills and the ability to work as member of a high-level international team
Job responsibilities / description ( उत्तरदायित्व) :Monitor behaviour, eating habits and health of animals, particularly translocated rhinos Examine all translocated rhinos on a regular basis and as needed throughout the year, which can include physical exams, blood work, etc. Examine rhinos to diagnose their health problems, primarily for the translocated animals. Plan, prepare and execute the veterinary component for rhino translocation. Set up a basic sample storing and testing facility. Undertake trainings for blood, tissue samples, etc. as necessary. Develop a protocol for rhino disease prophylaxis and implement that in collaboration with the state government of Assam Diagnose and treat wild animals for medical conditions. Tranquilization of animals under supervision of an authorised government representative. Advise WWF India teams in NBL & KKL, forest department officials and frontline staff about general care, medical conditions, and treatments of rhinos
